ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Come and experience the magic of Skydiving in beautiful Byron Bay!! Skydive Byron Bay is a great place to complete your AFF training course as we have highly experienced and professional jump masters, modern equipment for your training, and we are located just seven minutes north of Byron Bay. You will be able to take in beautiful views of Cape Byron and the beaches every time you take to the skies for your training.
THE AFF COURSE CONSISTS OF 9 STAGES:
Stage One requires two days. The first day consists of a full day's training in the classroom with a jump master. You will get acquainted with freefall, learn how to read your altimeter, pull your rip cord and fly your parachute. The training is quite intense, and will go from about 8 in the morning until about 4 or 5 in the afternoon.
On the second day of training, you will return to jump from 14,000 feet solo!!! You will have two jump masters assisting your freefall, and another jump master on the ground assisting you via a helmet radio while you are under canopy and coming in to land. Upon completion of stage one, you will receive membership to the Australian Parachute Federation, a log book, goggles, and a solo jump certificate.
Stages two and three are based on learning how to turn your parachute, and track across the sky.
Stage four teaches you how to control your body during freefall so that you can fall by yourself without the jump masters hanging onto you. This is the consolidation from two jump masters to one assisting you during your freefall.
Stage five teaches you how to move around the sky backwards and forwards and how to turn on the spot.
Stage six teaches you how to exit the plane by yourself (without assistance from your jump masters).
Stage seven concentrates on back loops and tracking across the sky.
Stage eight focuses on survival skills in the air which are very important but also a lot of fun!! You will learn the skills of fast and slow fall.
Stage nine is a lower altitude jump where you exit the plane and deploy your parachute to float down to the completion of your AFF training!!
PROGRESSION THROUGH THE AFF COURSE
Progression through the AFF stages depends on the individual. We are restricted by weather - AFF students are not permitted to jump under medium-to-high winds, cloud, or rain. Other than that, we allow you to jump 7 days a week, and you may get up to 2 or 3 AFF stages completed on any one day (apart from the first stage which takes two days). Based on this, you could have your AFF course completed within 1-2 weeks.
Alternatively, if you would like to take your time with the course, we recommend allowing a maximum of 90 days between the AFF stages. 1-7 days between stages is most common and keeps the information fresh in your mind.
Each stage has to be passed and approved by your jump master(s) before progressing to the next stage. If a stage needs to be consolidated or repeated, you will be able to do so at a minimum cost price.
We also offer video and photos at each stage for an additional fee. This allows you to analyse your jump and understand what you did right and/or wrong!!

ACCOMMODATION
We recommend staying in Byron Bay while you are completing your AFF course. We don't have any accommodation available at the drop zone, however there are many great places to stay in town. You will be able to enjoy many restaurants and a party atmosphere with daily transfers to and from our drop zone while you complete your course. FOLLOW UP
Completion of the AFF course is a fantastic personal achievement and a great leisure activity. Once you have passed all of the stages, you will be able to skydive with us for just $40 per jump, and $35 for gear hire (unless you purchase your own equipment!).
